About Us

The Long Walk to Food is written by Jonah Turner, a student at Washington Liberty High School with an appetite for adventure. As a kid growing up in a family that traveled a lot, Jonah Turner was exposed to many different cultures and cuisines. Although some of the fancy restaurants he went to were great, it was the places he went to with family and friends on the side of the street or in a shack that were the best. Whether it was The Office on the Beach in Cabo or shack in Cancun that may have been the best taco of his life, Jonah Turner was with his family. His inspiration for food writing came from the David Chang and Anthony Bourdain. These men focused on what makes different cuisines unique and how they can combine them to enhance them.
